The Cholo remake

cholo screenshotWe started creating a remake of Cholo back in late 2004. We had a pretty good idea of the direction of the game and the graphical style and began building it with our favourite tool - Jamagic.

Unfortunately Jamagics 3D capabilities were not too hot so we reluctantly moved on to find other 3D engines. We tried Irlicht and Blitz3D both of which gave us great results but we settled on Blitz3D for ease of use.

The original game world was rich in content, so we had plenty of inspiration to draw from, but the 3D wireframe graphics were a little too retro for what we had in mind for our version.

We decided to keep the theme however, where you saw the world through the eyes of the droids you controlled. The idea was kind of a Tron meets Maxheadroom style and a guy called Trevor "Smila" Storey stepped up and created the buildings and robots.

The game gradually took shape, with both of us working on it in our spare time. It's been a hard slog but we're very pleased with the final game.

Thank you's

Thanks to Joey Headen and Glyn Williams for allowing us to create a remake of their wonderful game.

Also thanks to all those that have helped us along the way.

We hope you enjoy the game! Remember to root around the website as there is a lot of useful information to be discovered if you get stuck or need help.

We'd love to hear from you, so why not stop by the forums and say hello!
